Do you struggle with being consistent and reaching your goals?

Who else gets fired up on Monday, crushes almost everything on Tuesday, before you know it you're dragging through the end of Wednesday on fumes...Thursday you're tired, Friday you're burnt out and by the time "wine thirty" hits you have already thrown all caution to the wind with a promise to start over again on Monday.
Does this who "falling off the wagon...and being dragged behind it" sound familiar?
It does for me because this IS me. It's all of us...except those instagram models that look like they have been oiled up just for that photo shoot of them eating a donut! Just sayin.....
So what do we do when we struggle with discipline? This is the muscle that fuels our consistency when motivation Monday is over and behind us! So how do we get some of this? I'll tell ya, its not on isle 7 and its absolutely not on Amazon Prime!
Discipline is LEARNED! It's practiced. It's fine tuned. BUT the number one skill you need to master is CONSISTENCY and we get consistency when we have a SYSTEM! You can have all the goals and dream boards but with no system to make it happen you're literally just hoping & dreaming and we all need to know that
HOPE IS NOT A PLAN!
So here is a plan to get you started!
Have a checklist! What do you need to do to get where you are going? Be SPECIFIC! If you are not sure what SMART goals check out my blog post on Goal Setting.
Create and schedule time! I know you don't want to hear it but we are all equipped with the same 24 hours. Just because you are motivated does not mean you can will yourself an extra hour a day. BUT you can MAKE time in your schedule. It is AMAZING what we can do when we set an intention to the spaces in our day. Create a ROUTINE. Think of your day like an attic. When we move into our new home our attic is EMPTY. There is so much space. Then up goes the Christmas decorations, then the baby clothes...oh there goes grandma's china or the kids baby books. Until it's full! The same thing will happen with your day if you do not take the time to be intentional with what you are doing! You make time to shower and brush your teeth each day so make time to work on your business, to prep your food, or to get that workout in!
Strategy is key if you want to get where you are going. My daughter was planning a cross country move with her fiancé (I know it's still weird to say). Her PLAN was to drive from FL to AZ. She knew how long it would take so she knew when she would leave and when she could arrive BUT she also needs a strategy. Who drives when? Where are they stopping? Are they visiting Aunt Terri on the way? How long will they drive each day? How much is gas? How ;many hotels will they need to stay in? Without a strategy and google maps (direction) they might still get there but its going to be messy!
Environment is critical in getting you motivated and getting your mind right. Do you need a separate work space to get that blog post written or do you need a corner in a room designated to workout. Do you need a quiet space to reach out to your clients. Do you need a favorite song to pump you up before you hit record on that LIVE or on your way to the gym? Find what works for you and add it to your routine.
Tracking your progress is an important part of working towards any goal. When you develop your SMART goals the "M" is for measurable. How can you measure your progress? Can you take body measurements if you have a weight loss goal? Can you have a specific number of podcasts, blogs, or trainings you want to create in a specific amount of time? Do you have a certain number of emails you want for your new product or training launch? Do you want to pay off your student loan? Find a way to track this and put it in front of you. When I was working on paying off the last our our credit card debt this year I figured how much I would pay each payday and put on sticky notes to equal the amount I owed. When I made a payment I pull a sticky note off. On those months when I wanted to go shopping or when I wanted to go over my budget I looked at that tracker and it reminded me of my goal!
TOOLS!!! We all love gadgets and tools but items like calendars, times or office supplies can help with productivity. I use a timer in the mornings when I sit down for my focused work time. I use timers on my phone to remind me to move from one task to another. I use calendars and planners to schedule my time and organize my thoughts.
Accountability partners are the most underrated tool in this list! Find someone who is working on something similar to you and agree to check in with one another. My friend Candace and I had a similar sales and recruiting goal with a NWM company and decided to be accountability partners. We worked so hard TOGETHER to achieve our SEPARATE goals and were able to enjoy the fruits of our labor together in Cancun! My friend Amy and I have similar goals now. We check in with one another daily to make sure we have them completed. She's not the boss of me, and I am not the boss of her, but the thought of checking in with her and NOT having done what I needed ENCOURAGES me to complete it!
